Our trauma therapy sessions are designed to help clients heal from the effects of trauma, such as PTSD, childhood abuse, and sexual assault. We use evidence-based treatments, such as EMDR (eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing) and trauma-focused cognitive-behavioral therapy (TF-CBT), to help clients process their trauma and develop coping skills to manage symptoms.
We have extensive experience in working with clients that have emerging and serious Personality Disorders, including Borderline Personality Disorder. We respect the complexities and challenges that this presentation can bring and how it affects so many different facets of an individuals' life, including the relationships they care about the most. We work from a trauma-informed model and will work with you on areas such as: interpersonal attachment; reducing distress; recognising psycho-social triggers; regaining self-esteem and self-image following trauma; regaining the confidence to be assertive and to have one's own wants & needs respected by others.
Forensic referrals are welcome, however we may not consistently be able to offer bulk-billing for this cohort. It is likely that a co-payment or funding stream will be required. We offer assessment, intervention and consultation for a range of problem behaviours, including: interpersonal violence, intimate partner violence, sexual offending, stalking and general patterns of antisocial behaviour. With prior experience working in Prisons and Community Corrections, we are experienced in helping justice-involved men and women to have positive community reintegration and to learn the skills that will assist them to lead pro-social lives post-sentencing. Formal forensic reports for the purpose of presenting to Court will be by negotiation with our team.
We use focussed assessment to better understand the reasons you have sought out psychological intervention. In collaboration with you, we will develop a treatment plan that respects your prefernces for how you want to be treated. Therapeutic interventions include CBT, DBT, ACT, EMDR, Schema Therapy and Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction.
